Hi, I have an issue where my Monero.com wallet never completes a sync, the background sync appears to quickly stall one the app loses focus.
I’m restoring an old wallet using a memonic seed so I have a few block to sync.
I have tried leaving the phone to sync over night but virtually no progress was made
Background sync enabled (aggressive mode)
Runs Inside secondary profile
THe user profile has tor enabled using a VPN slot
Unrestricted battery usage is enabled
Notifications for the app is enabled
I’ve tried several different Monero nodes but it didn’t help
Hi. While the wallet is unlocked and you’re actively using it, what message does it show in the top bar, main, balance screen? X blocks remaining, connected, attempting to sync? Have you tried syncing over regular VPN or raw clearnet connection yet?
Blocks remaining, the number of blocks slowly decreases, while app is active on screen orbot seem to show that bandwidth is used in burts with peak usage of two megabyte/s.
No I haven’t tried VPN or clearnet, I could try a VPN I suppose.
I went back to my previous wallet Monerujo and under the same conditions mentioned in the first post it managed to sync the blockchain within approximately an hour, cake couldn’t manage this in eight hours.
Uhh… why orbot? There’s a built-in Tor daemon for one, for two, for syncing quickness, it’s best to take the clearnet route; if privacy is a concern, VPN can improve matters, especially if you use a two-hop connection, for example.
Edit: Settings>Connections>Enable built-in Tor. No need for Orbot if Tor is desired for network anonymity, but, other wallets will advice using clearnet to fully catch up with current block height, at least.
